Portfolio

1. Designed for mobile use

I created an Instagram account for my organization, ATV, last year and currently manage the profile. This was a marketing strategy I had come up with and presented to my marketing team. Instagram and other forms of social media are huge parts of people's lives and it is an effective way to increase ATV's brand.

86% of undergraduates have a smartphone where they can access social media platforms such as Instagram. Instagram is one of the most popular sources of social media and I thought it would be very beneficial to ATV to create an account. I post pictures of events, fliers to promote events, pictures of members, and other various aspects of the club. By following a large group of people and posting on a regular basis I am able to let more people know the benefits of ATV and what the club can do for you. Also by hash-tagging I am able to connect with others who may be interested in what I have hash-tagged. Instagram is a very effective form of communication and allows me to reach out to a large body of people right from my phone.

2. Digital Writing

I had created this blog in class with my peers talking about Spotify and comparing the web-based version to the mobile version. Blogs and digital writing are really cool because they have taken the place of traditional writing with paper. Digital writing allows people to think freely and have other people read it as well.

Digital writing allows people to stay connected. For example, if someone finds my blog interesting they can continue to follow my page and eventually they can reach out to me and talk to me about they think about the topic. Digital writing allows people to continuously interact with one another and can spark a discussion like the Twitter discussion we had in class. We talked about certain topics and people from around the country just hopped right into the discussion and something to contribute. Also by adding color, fonts, and visuals to your digital writing can attract a larger audience to your blog.

3. Visuals that Convey a Message Digitally

I created a Youtube video with my group discussing how to sign up for classes. Instead of making a traditional video we created a brief and concise instructional video on how to sign up for classes. We used a black background with a white font so there are no issues with reading. Also the color combination makes it easier to read and follow the instructions. We used a step by step method in order to assist who may need help.

By having this visual digitally it can be shared with anyone. This allows our instructional video to get into the hand's of the people who need assistance with signing up for classes. The video seems bland, but it provides all the information needed. By avoiding visuals the user can't be distracted and is getting only the information that they need.

4. Interactive Design

I created a Prezi about ATV to present to new members. I used Prezi because it is very interactive. Prezi allows you to zoom and pan to various part of your presentation and almost seems like the presentation is interacting with you. In my Prezi, I chose to limit the use of words and use a lot of visuals. I think that in any presentation words can be distracting. On the other hand, visuals can express information about a topic.

Visuals in this interactive design are made to grab the audiences attention. Attention is what receiver pay to consume information and convert it to knowledge. By gaining this knowledge of ATV, I hope that is convinces the audience to join ATV because of the benefits it can provide.

5. Multiple Piece Design using the Same Communication Strategy

I created a multiple blogs on Game of Thrones that all use the same communication strategy, to gain viewership by explaining the show. However, each blog has its own purpose. The first one is a short and simple blog that could be used to spark a conversation on social media platforms. By sparking conversations on the show more people can hear the what the conversation is about and create an interest to go watch the show.
The second one is a little longer and is meant to be used as a blog. Blogs are creative ways to talk about anything that you want. By creating an aesthetic look to the blog I can attract more viewers to my blog which leads them to watch the show.
The last one is meant to be shown on sites where you can see reviews about TV shows. I give a lengthy review on the show and give reason as to why the show is so great. By posting this to sites, people can see the reasons why Game of Thrones is so popular.
